VEHICLE WEIGHT AND CLASSIFICATION MONITORING PLAN FOR IOWA

This document contains a recommendation for deployment of vehicle classification and weigh-in-motion equipment for the state of Iowa. The recommended deployment uses "The Traffic Monitoring Guide" (FHWA, June 1985) adjusted to encompass the data available by road system from the Iowa roadway base records. The proposed deployment included as many fixed scales as possible and recommended a simple strategy for determining avoidance and deploying activity of commercial vehicles when the scales were in operation.
