THE TRENDS IN ELECTRONIC VEHICLE MONITORING TECHNOLOGY (EVMT) APPLICATIONS ---1987 ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS: ROADS AND TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION OF CANADA, SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA
This paper presents a brief summary of emerging trends in electronic vehicle monitoring systems. Systems developed for use by transportation industries are generally designed to monitor onboard vehicle systems or to provide sophisticated routing/navigational assistance. Government developed systems are designed more to monitor roadway traffic by identifying and classifying vehicles in terms of type, size and weight for the purposes of traffic management and regulation enforcement. The paper discusses possible interrelationships between different applications, and describes an integrated electronic vehicle monitoring system concept for future application consideration. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 807058.
