A BRIDGE EVALUATION STRATEGY FOR VEHICLE WEIGHTS ---1987 ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS: ROADS AND TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION OF CANADA, SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA
This paper outlines a bridge evaluation strategy developed by the province of Saskatchewan to determine tolerable vehicle weight limits for structures in the provincial network. The strategy will also identify bridge deterioration and maintenance needs and posting requirements. The major activities in the strategy are: 1) bridge inventory, 2) bridge inspection, and 3) an evaluation model. The information gathered in the process is combined into a database which supports the decision process concerning permissible vehicle weights, bridge repairs, posting, strengthening and replacement. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 807058
