AIRLINE CONCENTRATION. HEARING BEFORE THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON AVIATION, COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE, SCIENCE, AND TRANSPORTATION, UNITED STATES SENATE, 101ST CONGRESS, 1ST SESSION, JUNE 7, 1989
This is a hearing on the effects of airline concentration at hub airports on fares and service. A General Accounting Office study has found that at 14 hub airports fares are on average 27% higher than fares at unconcentrated airports, and competition on many routes from concentrated airports has decreased and the number of places served directly by only one carrier from these airports has increased by 25%.
