MECHANISM AND RATE CONSTANT OF THE REACTION BETWEEN METHYLENE AND METHYL RADICALS
The chemistry of the reaction between methyl and triplet methylene radicals has been examined by means of flash photolysis of azomethane and ketene followed by gas chromatographic analysis of the hydrocarbon products. Using the combination rate constant of triplet CH2 and the combination of CH3 a value for the reaction 3CH2 + CH3 to C2H5* to C2H4 + H has been determined.
