A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF SOME SYMBOLIC SYSTEMS FOR UNDERPANELS
EEN VERGELIJKEND ONDERZOEK NAAR ENKELE SYSTEMEN VOOR DE SYMBOLISCHE PRESENTATIEVAN ONDERBORDEN
A comparative study was carried out on the relative merits of a number of systems for the symbolic presentation of messages on panels. As an experimental method a concept formation paradigm was used, the task consisting of learning the behavioural consequences of the messages. The systems differed in overall numbers of correct responses. This difference was relative independent of variation in messages, context, and age and education of the subjects. The results furthermore suggest that for a definitive design a choice has to be made between a matrix system having a further coding system, or one general kind of message, namely the restrictive one. ?TRRL/
