PUBLIC FACILITY BUILDING CODES
An effective, mandatory energy code for design and construction of Alaskan buildings would probably save the State millions of dollars in long-term heating and lighting costs. This project examines the technical feasibility of adopting existing energy codes developed elsewhere in the U.S. (with appropriate modifications for Alaska) in the continued effort to develop appropriate standards. It also outlines the future research needed for such an endeavor. This report is entirely the work of McGlothlin-Balivet Company and its subcontractors with one exception. The "Implementation" section was prepared by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities as part of a renewed effort to document and follow through on the results of the Department's research.
