INDUSTRY/UNIVERSITY COLLOQUIUM ON TRANSPORTATION R&D : FOLLOW-UP ACTION PLAN
This colloquium was held with the objective of improving mutual awareness between the industry and university sectors in the field of transportation technology (see IRRD 807182). The action plan proposed in this document picks up on concrete steps suggested at the colloquium directed at the goal of increased cooperative transportation research. These steps include the following: 1) meetings similar to the aladdin conferences in the United States, designed to expose university research talent and facilities to prospective industry clientele, 2) direct meetings between transport Canada and several targeted industry representatives, 3) a feasibility study for the creation of an online database of transportation research facilities and personnel, 4) investigations into several specific topics raised at the colloquium, and 5) a study of methods that can be used to stimulate public interest, awareness and enthusiasm in transportation technology.
