STANDARDS ANALYSIS POWERING/PERFORMANCE EVALUATION USING TEST COURSE METHODS. VOLUME I. RESEARCH REPORT
Volume I contains the information gleaned from recent test programs conducted in the United States and Canada using various test courses to evaluate the performance of some 96 boats (less than 26 ft) in over 170 different boat/motor combinations. The report summarizes five different test programs, the tests performed, results of the tests and data obtained, and conclusions/recommendations based on the data/analysis reported. The test courses used were based upon those developed by ABYC/BIA and consist of a family of courses all of which have an entry gate and an offset (or avoidance) buoy. The course ends with an exit gate which is in-line with the entry gate. The entry/exit distances and offset distances are dependent on the boat maximum speed.
