LIBRARY OF STANDARD ITEM DESCRIPTIONS FOR HIGHWAY WORKS

This library has been compiled according with the itemisation of the method of measurement for highway works (mmhw). This is a master library which can be used direct for manual billing, or as a basis from which individual libraries can be constructed to suit available computer facilities. Whatever process is followed the end result should produce directly comparable bills of quantities. Sections are provided on: 1) site clearance; 2) hedging, fencing and noise barriers; 3) safety fences; 4) drainage and service ducts; 5) earthworks; 6) pavements; 7) kerbing, footways and paved areas; 8) traffic signs and road markings; 9) road lighting columns and brackets; 10) electrical work for road lighting and traffic signs; 11) motorway communications; 12) piling and diaphragm walling; 13) structural concrete; 14) steelwork for structure; 15) protection of steelwork against corrosion; 16) waterproofing for structures; 17) bridge bearings; 18) parapets; 19) bridge expansion joints and sealing of gaps; 20) brickwork, blockwork and stonework; and 21) provisional sums and prime cost items.
