This hearing examines fuel economy standards for automobiles. During the Reagan Administration, the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for cars were relaxed in each of the last four years. This hearing presents the view of the Bush Administration, as well as that of the automobile industry and others, on the CAFE regulations. It includes testimony, prepared statements, and an appendix containing responses to additional questions.
