THE TRANSITION TO COMPUTERIZED BUS AND CREW SCHEDULING AT THE MONTREAL COMMUNITY TRANSIT COMPANY. FROM THE BOOK COMPUTER-AIDED TRANSIT SCHEDULING
Computerized scheduling has been introduced and developed over the last ten years by the M.U.C.T.C. in collaboration with GIRO Inc. of Montreal. This paper describes the scheduling problems addressed in the Montreal context, the organizational methods used, and the principal steps followed during the installation of the HASTUS computerized scheduling system. The accent in this paper is not on the mathematical techniques used but rather on the all important organizational questions involved in the transition from manual scheduling and in the operation of a large-scale computer-assisted system of this nature.
