ASPECTS OF BUS CREW SCHEDULING USING A SET PARTITIONING MODEL. FROM THE BOOK COMPUTER-AIDED TRANSIT SCHEDULING
The bus crew scheduling problem in Christchurch, New Zealand, has been studied and a solution method based on a set partitioning model has been developed. Severe computational difficulties are caused by the high degree of degeneracy present in this model. These are examined, and a simple technique for overcoming the problems is discussed. The solution method is also described briefly. A feasibility study has been performed and promising results have been achieved.
