OBSERVATIONS OF PEDESTRIAN BEHAVIOUR AT FOUR SITES

A method has been developed for collecting and analysing on a large scale data relating to the behavior of minors in road crossing situations. The results obtained from four sites show differences between the behavior of minors and adults which indicate the employment of different crossing strategies. Social factors often had a marked effect on minor's road crossing behavior, but sex differences were less common. The implications of these results are discussed, and a note on the methodological issues associated with observation studies is appended. (A) /TRRL/
