OLEXOBIT: A POLYMER MODIFIED BITUMEN --BITUMEN, FLEXIBLE AND DURABLE. 3RD EUROBITUME SYMPOSIUM 1985, THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS, SEPTEMBER 11-13, 1985
Olexobit is a polymer (epdm) modified bitumen, developed by bp Germany. This report summarizes a number of its characteristics. Some of them differ from conventional bitumen in a characteristic way, other features are similar to normal bitumen. In particular the following features are shown: -increased flexibility at low temperature; - improved adhesion; -marked elastic recovery after mechanical stress and reduced plastic deformation; -high resistance to fatigue of asphalt at all temperatures and improved low temperature flexibility under dynamic test conditions; the results of the test methods, some of which have been specially developed, are compared with standard bitumen or asphalt on a comparative basis. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 815173.
