LA TECHNIQUE DES ENDUITS SUPERFICIELS

This review paper outlines the different types of surface dressings: (1) standard dressings which are differentiated by the number of binder+gravel layers one-course, two-course and three-course dressings; (2) mixed dressings; and (3) high-performance or special dressings. The ingredients, binders and aggregates, are discussed as is the equipment for spreading the binder, and the aggregates, and for compaction. Details are given of the parameters ensuring successful application and finish; these parameters pertain to the support, traffic and temperature, selection, binder, aggregates, and construction method.
