THE BEHAVIOUR OF MODIFIED BITUMINOUS BINDERS IN ON-SITE AND LABORATORY INTERVENTIONS --BITUMEN, FLEXIBLE AND DURABLE. 3RD EUROBITUME SYMPOSIUM 1985, THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS, SEPTEMBER 11-13, 1985

Over the past five years, autostrade has perfected on-site and laboratory recycling techniques, both as regards the kinds of equipment employed in the execution of operations, as well as the materials utilized to recreate the original physical-mechanical characteristics of the aged road mix. Leaving aside discussion on the sophisticated machinery and facilities involved in the creation of the bituminous mixtures, the article lists the steps covered from 1980 to the present in the utilization of bitumens with particular characteristics (high level of aromatic components) and additives containing regenerating qualities (products with many polar and aromatic components). At present, the above stated products are being regularly employed in specific tasks, with excellent results. The article concentrates above all on the studies carried out on road mixes to be recycled, with the relative trials and successive controls. For this activity, a new series of technological norms has been created which foresees the utilization of newly formulated laboratory equipment and advanced methodologies.(a) for the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 815173.
