CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF RIGID PAVEMENTS. REPORT FROM SWITZERLAND --PIARC XVIII WORLD ROAD CONGRESS, BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, SEPTEMBER 13-19, 1987

This report briefly outlines the work done in Switzerland to solve the transverse joint dowelling problem in concrete pavements built with a slip form paver. The dowels must be placed in fresh concrete at their correct position and spacing, without affecting the working speed of the machine, and they must remain in their horizontal and vertical positions. In the field of concrete pavement maintenance, sufficient time for concrete hardening must be allowed. For the covering abstracts of the congress see IRRD 812115 and 812116.
