TORONTO: THIRTY YEARS OF TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT. FROM THE BOOK TRANSIT, LAND USE & URBAN FORM
The option that Toronto chose 40 or 50 years ago was to make transit part of the fabric of the community, to aim at the "by choice" riders, that is, people who have a choice, with quality, cleanliness, reliability, safety, speed--all those boring sorts of things that make transit work. They may not be flashy, but they are critical. Details count; quality requires investment.
