RESEARCH ISSUES IN ALCOHOL, SAFETY AND TRAUMA: SEVERITY AND AFTERMATH OF AN INJURY
Alcohol may increase deaths after injury by increasing tissue damage in trauma. The drinker's behavior often impedes injury management. Although a heavy drinking history increases susceptibility to infections, there are conflicting findings on alcohol's role in delayed trauma deaths.
