MORE DAYLIGHT, LESS ACCIDENTS
It may be concluded that, insofar as better visibility contributes to safer travel, it would be preferable to transfer the hour of daylight from the early to the later part of the day in Britain. People living in rural areas would derive more advantage, as there are fewer street-lights there to compensate for the absence of daylight, and the reduction in accidents would rise the more northern the latitude, people living in Scotland being more advantaged than those in England and Wales.
