A NEW DESIGN PROCEDURE FOR THE NAILING OF SLOPES: PROSPER PROGRAMME
UNE NOUVELLE METHODE DE DIMENSIONNEMENT DU CLOUAGE DES PENTES: PROGRAMME PROSPER
The design procedure described in this paper for the nailing of slopes makes use of the prosper computer program. The procedure takes account of deformations within the soil mass, and has been developed mainly as a result of research carried out on foundations subjected to axial and lateral loads. The laws for the behaviour of the nails under such loading, defined with reference to the modulus values and the limiting soil pressure, are introduced into the prosper program which then determines the stresses in the nails as a function of the displacements produced in the mass of unstable soil and the required safety factors associated with the soil and nail characteristics.
