METHOD FOR THE STRENGTHENING OF BRIDGE PIERS FOUNDED ON PILES, BY MEANS OF MICROPILES

This article describes and illustrates the strengthening of the pile foundations of a bridge (on provincial road no 30) across the terdoppio river in the community of zinasco vecchio, pavia. The operation consisted in the construction of a foundation of micropiles mounted on foundation plinths cast around the existing plinths. This solution distributed the concentrated reactions of the micropiles, transmitting them to the original structure without providing differential settlement between the new and the old structure, which would have partially cancelled the function of the strengthening.
