PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN SPARSELY POPULATED AREAS

The report summarizes about 20 projects concerning public transportation in sparsely populated areas. Different modes of transportation are discussed: use of taxis, small buses, dial-a-ride etc. It is concluded that there is no one solution to the transportation needs in these areas, but a system containing many modes of transportation has to be set up.(a)
