VEGETATION AND ITS MAINTENANCE IN RELATION TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
IL VERDE E LA SUA MANUTENZIONE NELLE PROBLEMATICHE AMBIENTALE
In highway technology the use of vegetation for integration into and rehabilation of the landscape, protection against soil erosion and as noise barriers and a control measure against pollutants such as exhaust fumes, is well known. Vegetation may also be used to protect the traffic itself, by preventing dazzle and reducing the impact of crosswinds in areas of particular danger. The principles of this road design specialization, road phytotechnology, are described and illustrated in this article.
