CYCLING IN ITALY ---PROCEEDINGS VELO CITY 87 INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS. PLANNING FOR THE URBAN CYCLIST, MARTINIHAL CENTRE GRONINGEN, NETHERLANDS, 22-26 SEPTEMBER, 1987.

According to the most recent estimates, there are between 22 and 27 million bicycles in Italy. However, despite the availability of bicycles, italians do not take advantage of this means of transport to get about. Italy is also way behind other European countries with respect to cyclist facilities. Organizations for promoting bicycle use, especially in urban areas, have given proposals for the construction of more cycle tracks. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 816307.
