A LOOK AT WHAT SOME STATES ARE DOING. MAKING IT MORE PROFESSIONAL IN LOUSIANA
Lawmakers in the House and Senate in Louisiana have been convinced that most of the work assigned to unclassified appointees was actually being performed by staff personnel. An Act has recently been passed that limits the Department to only 2 unclassified appointees. Additionally, the new reorganization act creates 2 main branches within the Department, the Office of Engineering and the Office of Management and Finance. They will be headed by civil service appointees. It is expected that staff morale will be helped by the new law.
