OCTOBER TRAFFIC DEATHS DECREASE TWO PERCENT
Motor vehicle deaths in October 1988 totaled 4,540, a decrease of 2% from the October 1987 total. Deaths for the first ten months of 1988 increased 1% over the 1987 ten month total. Disabling injuries for the first 10 months of this year are estimated to be slightly more than 1,460,000. The cost of accidents for the first 10 months of this year is about $54 billion. Statistics are provided of deaths reported by state traffic authorities.
