SMOOTH DRIVING BY STOCKPORT

This short article describes the use of the ingersoll-rand mw-175 planer by stockport metropolitan borough council. This is a wheel mounted cold milling machine with a cutting width of up to 762 mm and a maximum cutting depth of 165 mm. The machine is fitted with depth sensors and automatic grade sensors. The sensors can be adjusted from the driving seat thus enabling the machine to be operated by one man. The right grade ski assembly pivots easily from the side to the front. This allows the operator to cut flush to obstacles while retaining the benefits of the fine depth control. The milling drum is front-mounted and holds a number of tungsten carbide teeth, making it ideal for either concrete or asphalt applications. A hydraulically operated moldboard enables the planed material to be deposited to either side of the cut as desired. A pressurised water spray system is also fitted which keeps dust and dirt to a minimum and also lubricates the drum. The machine also produces reusable roadbuilding material, which cuts the cost of road repair.
