METHOD TO ESTABLISH THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE LOAD UNDER WORKING CONDITIONS OF POLYESTER REINFORCING FABRICS
Implementing woven polyester reinforcing mats at the base of large fills over weak soils or as multiple layers in soil retaining structures, the design has to consider design loads versus service life, ie the durability of these materials in general. In this paper the factors are discussed which, (and to what extent), limit the maximum allowable loads in the said fabrics covering creep performance; damage resistance; chemical attack; and, environmental conditions in general.
