WASH-IT-OFF PAINT SYSTEM SPEEDS UP TRAFFIC FLOW
This article describes an innovative paint which can be used for temporary road markings as it can be easily and completely removed without causing pollution in run-off. The paint, tempro 200, is a waterbased coating which comes in a range of colours. It can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray and dries in about 25-30 minutes. It is resistant to weather, water, acid, oils, lubricants and also protects against abrasion. Although it dries quickly to form a tough film, it washes off easily and cleanly with the application of a special hot or cold remover, and is biodegradable. Tests have confirmed that tempro meets the skidding resistance required, and can maintain these grips and also luminance characteristics for up to two months. Glass beads can also be placed on the surface of the coating to provide increased reflectivity at night. It has already been used on the London marathon route.
