DEVELOPMENT OF ROADHEADING EQUIPMENT FOR TUNNELLING BY NATM --TUNNELLING 88. PAPERS PRESENTED AT THE 5TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM, TUNNELLING 88, ORGAINZED BY THE INSTITUTION OF MINING AND METALLURGY, WITH THE COOPERATION OF THE BRITISH TUNNELLING SOCIETY, THE INSTITUTION OF MINING ENGINEERS AND TRRL, LONDON, APRIL 18-21, 1988

This paper presents a newly designed system for mechanizing tunnelling operations performed by the natm (new Austrian tunnelling method). By studying the individual steps of the development and trial operation of the system it was demonstrated that excavation and mucking could be solved satisfactorily. Improvements will be focussed on improving details of the design and on increasing power. Not proven up to now is the task of creating an integrated system covering all the individual functions of natm tunnelling. These additional functions can be performed by already existing equipment and the equipment can be attached to the alpine miner amt 70 as described. This step should not be a difficult technical problem. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 812521.
