JOURNAL PAPER REVIEW PROCEDURE AND STATISTICS

This report provides readers of this Journal with current information on paper review statistics, paper acceptability, and procedures used by the Publications Committee, and indicates changes of policy that have been adopted in recent years. The Geotechnical Engineering Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers accepts about 47% of the manuscripts submitted. The Puiblications Committee has attempted to reduce the average review time which now exceeds the target period of 3 months. The Committee encourages more papers of a practical, nature that document case histories and field performance. Papers in emerging new areas of geotechnical engineering, such as the environmental applications, are encouraged.
