TEXAS TRAINS WORKERS IN STATE'S WAR ON WEEDS
The training of Texas highway maintenance personnel to aid them in the state's war against roadside weeds is discussed. The training includes one day in class with sessions tailored to the equipment and chemicals used in each district. Training is offered in the use of a computer injector for herbicide sprayers. This system reduces worker contact with the chemical. Granular herbicide that comes in water-soluble form is being considered. A chemical that controls bindweed is also being evaluated.
