COST TO THE NHS OF ACCIDENTS TO CHILDREN IN THE WEST MIDLANDS

This short article describes the cost to the NHS of accidents to children in the West Midlands in 1984. The data are divided by type of accident and number of children admitted as out-patients and as in-patients during that period. Road accidents are sub-divided by road user type: pedestrian, car passenger, cyclist and "other". Road accidents accounted for only 9.3% of the total costs, but had the highest average cost (108.48 pounds). (TRRL)
