GLOSSARY OF BUILDING AND CIVIL ENGINEERING TERMS. PART 5: MASONRY. SECTION 5.2: STONE

This section of Part 5 of this British standard has been prepared under the direction of the Basic Data and Performance Criteria for Civil Engineering and Building Structures Standards Committee and is a revision of the BS2847 "Glossary of Terms for Stone Used in Building" which is withdrawn. Certain general masonry terms from BS2847 are included in section 5.1 of this standard. The terms in subsection 3.6 of BS 2847 for cast stone will be included in Part 6 of this standard. Geological terms, which are also of general interest, are retained in section 5.2. A general introduction to and explanation of this glossary is given in Part 0 of this standard (see IRRD 801731) which itemizes the Parts, sections and subsections into which this glossary is divided and provides a general alphabetical index of all terms in the sections and subsections already published. The following sections are present in this part: geological terms; tools and equipment; stonework; operations; and stone dressing. (TRRL)
