EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS IN HIGH GROWTH AREAS
Current limitations on highway funds, coupled with increasing needs for highway infrastructure in a restrictive political climate dictate that innovative techniques be employed in both the evaluation and implementation of needed highway improvements. This paper reviews the successful approach to mitigation, one of the more severe transportation infrastructure deficiencies in the rapidly growing Denver Metropolitan area. The objective of this work was to develop an implementable solution for reconstructing the existing interchange at Interstate 25 and U.S. 6 and its environs in Metro Denver.
