FINANCING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN BRASIL
Noting the shift in financial resources from the centralized Federal government to the municipal governments in Brazil, this paper describes the history of transit financing. It goes on to discuss recent trends, including transit subsidies and private operators. The paper concludes by reviewing the status of transit in several urban areas.
