SMOKE HOODS: NET SAFETY BENEFIT ANALYSIS
In 1986 the CAA convened a meeting with representatives of the other three authorities known to have an interest in smoke hoods for passengers--FAA, DGAC (France) and Transport Canada. The four authorities agreed on a collaborative work program, a part of which included a net safety benefit study for smoke hoods, i.e., an assessment of the safety benefit, an any lilkely offset due perhaps to delays in evacuation induced by its use. It is that study which is reported in the paper.
