PATCHING: PREFERRED METHOD 1
The patching method described in this manual relates to the replacement of defective flexible pavement with new flexible material, hand laid, to any depth not less than the wearing course thickness, to effect a permanent restoration of the stability and/or riding quality of the pavement. Though the method is specific to flexible pavements, some of the operations detailed will, with adaptations, be of relevance when reinstatements in footways and concrete carriageways are required. The manual also covers the working environment, equipment, tools, site planning, and materials.
