FAA'S ROLE IN AVIATION DRUG ENFORCEMENT. HEARING BEFORE THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 100TH CONGRESS, 2D SESSION
This hearing marks the culmination of an extensive, bipartisan investigation into the role and responsibilities of the Federal Aviation Administration in carrying out the 1984 and 1986 Aviation Drug Laws and in providing assistance to Federal, State and local agencies involved in the enforcement of the nation's drug laws. It focuses on three issues: (1) Should the current FAA system of registering aircraft, certificating pilots, and processing major repair and alteration forms be improved, especially as it relates to assisting law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of the Nation's drug laws? (2) Should the current FAA drug aviation information activities be improved to assist in drug interdiction and enforcement? and (3) Are the 1984 and 1986 aviation drug statues being enforced, and are they adequate to support effective drug enforcement and prosecution? Included are testimony, prepared statements, and submissions for the record.
