This hearing reviews the role of ethanol in the 1990's. Interest in ethanol has been renewed due to a combination of factors, including enhanced production technology, the need for development of alternative fuels, the availability of plentiful grains, and the potential for diminishing air pollutants. Both national energy policy and agricultural policy are affected by developments in this field. This review provides a broad overview of the subject. It includes testimony, prepared statements, and material submitted for the record.
