CONCRETE PAVEMENT DESIGN MODELS DEVELOPED IN FRANCE --WORKSHOP ON THEORETICAL DESIGN OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS, JUNE 5-6, 1986, EPEN-THE NETHERLANDS, CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND CONTRACT STANDARDIZATION IN CIVIL AND TRAFFIC ENGINEERING

In France several procedures are available for the thickness design and analysis of concrete pavements. They require the knowledge of traffic, foundation support and geometrical and component analysis such as type of pavement (CRCP or jointed) transverse joint construction, type of shoulders and even longitudinal joint construction. These procedures are based on different types of models of which the choice essentially depends on the treated problem. But the general concrete pavement design is defined by two documents published by laboratiore central des ponts et chaussees (lcpc) and service d'etudes techniques des routes et autoroutes (setra). For particular studies, the available theoretical models can be separated in 3 categories, which are described in this paper: models of layered systems, finite element models, and coupled models.(a) for the covering record of the workshop, see IRRD no 811610.
