SLAB BEHAVIOUR OF PLAIN UNDOWELED CONCRETE PAVEMENTS --WORKSHOP ON THEORETICAL DESIGN OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS, JUNE 5-6, 1986, EPEN-THE NETHERLANDS, CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND CONTRACT STANDARDIZATION IN CIVIL AND TRAFFIC ENGINEERING

The pavement studies are distributed along the central-south zone of Chile with a climate varying from mild-dry to mild-rainy. The paper presents the results and draws among others the following conclusions: (a) in the examined pavement slabs, curling can be quantified with the instrumentation employed; (b) the distribution of internal temperatures is typically nonlinear; (c) stresses by the load of a standard axle are small compared with the curling stresses; and (d) modelling of the climate and traffic is necessary to adequately estimate loads and to determine the opportunity of preventive actions. For the covering record of the workshop, see IRRD no 811610.
