MAINTENANCE AND WINTER SERVICABILITY --PIARC XVIII WORLD ROAD CONGRESS, BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, SEPTEMBER 13-19, 1987
Section 1 of the report deals with the administration of the road network in Belgium. It describes the organization of the districts -areas comprising a length of state road answerable to their provincial directorate of bridges and roads. Details are given of the responsibilities of the latter and of the management and equipment department. Section 2 describes the winter services, their organization, decision process regarding the type of action recommended to ensure adequate level of service, spreading procedures and choice between sodium and calcium chloride, resources in equipment and personnel, information system for road users, and cost of winter services.
