CONFERENCE DISCUSSION NO 3: ROAD MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS --PIARC XVIII WORLD ROAD CONGRESS, BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, SEPTEMBER 13-19, 1987
This report comprises 6 chapters. The first explains the concept of a road management system. The second outlines the criteria which facilitate the selection of a system or a strategy within a system. Chapter 3 explains how to be aware of the costs involved in road management and the physical laws governing pavements. Chapter 4 details all the data which must be collected. Chapter 5 describes the internal characteristics of various management systems. The last chapter gives some examples of management systems in Austria, Denmark, Morocco, Portugal, Arizona state (USA), Washington state (USA), department of meurthe-et-moselle (France) and the hdm model (highway design and maintenance model) prepared by the world bank.
