EVALUATION OF A HIGH PRODUCTION INTEGRAL SPRAY PATCHER. 1986 ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS VOLUME 2
The dynapac pavement patcher is a highly mobile spray patching unit which is capable of spraying emulsion, spreading aggregate and compacting all in one pass. Three hot mix and two surface treated pavements, located in southern and central Ontario, were selected for treatment. Pavement defects treated included segregation, pavement edge breakup and centreline, edge and alligator cracking. Initial results of the testing were positive, and the unit demonstrated significant advantages over hand spray patching, including decreased costs, increased production and ease of operation. Minor drawbacks are noted, and suggestions made to improve the patcher's performance. It is recommended that monitoring of patch performance continue over subsequent winters. (TRRL)
