A SAFETY BASIS FOR THE DUPLICATION OF HIGH VOLUME RURAL ROADS. NEW ZEALAND ROADING SYMPOSIUM 1987. VOLUME 3
This paper addresses the problem of accidents on higher volume 2-way roads. Overseas, policy allows for the duplication of such roads. Accordingly an accident analysis has been performed on New Zealand roads and it is found that duplication of our high volume roads could be justified by accident savings alone. It is concluded that further work should be performed and policies instituted for duplicating high volume rural roads in New Zealand. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 810782.
