TESTS OF COAST GUARD DEVELOPED HIGH SEAS OIL RECOVERY SYSTEMS AT EPA OHMSETT
This report summarizes the full scale tank testing of Coast Guard developed High Seas Oil Recovery Systems which was conducted at the Environmental Protection Agency's Oil and Hazardous Materials Simulated Environmental Test Tank (EPA OHMSETT) in Leonardo, New Jersey. The tests were conducted during July through September of 1974. The objectives of the tests were: (1) to obtain quantitative and qualitative measures of performance for the Lockheed High Seas Oil Recovery System HSORS and the Ocean Systems Oil Recovery System 1000 (ORS 1000) and (2) to develop a standard test plan for the testing of oil skimmers. The tests were controlled and instrumented so as to give data on the oil recovery rate, oil recovery efficiency, and thruput efficiencies attained over a wide range of conditions. A description of the test apparatus, the standard test plan employed, the instrumentation used, and the data reduction and analysis are included in the report. (Author)
