DECK FORMING MADE EASY
More than 200,000 sq. ft. of reinforced concrete bridge deck was completed four months ahead of schedule on a replacement bridge project across the upper reaches of Tampa Bay. The Cone Corporation, Tampa, constructed the 2,100-ft.-long, 44-ft.-wide twin bridges under a $10.1 million contract with the Florida Department of Transportation. This article describes the construction. Notable construction methods on the job included flexible crews, barges that float only at high tide, and adjustable joist hangers.
